The busy street corners were created using 2 point perspective. After learning the basic 1 point perspective, grade 8 learners took it a step further. Using the bases of a horizon line, two vanishing points and many converging lines, it started to look more like a geometry session at first. But as the learners' began to add details and architectural elements, the cities came to life. Rather than get fussy with colors, they painted their cities with washes of black paint, trying to achieve as many values(shades) of grey as they could to make the city have a full effect. Finally each learner framed their artwork with a striking red frame and then brought a few small elements of red into their artworks... a stop sign, a roof or even a car.
After learning about one point pespective, the grade 8 learners applied this to interior design. Each learner designed and furnished their own rooms while keeping in mind things such as furniture design, color choice, spatial feelings, proportion and overall "good taste".
Grade 8 learners applied one point pespective to create these creative popping out artworks. By following the instructions of using a vanishing point, drawing a variety of shapes and adding converging lines the art takes on a 3D look. Then the learners used their creativity to add a theme such as books, space, names, or even city scapes.
