Using the paper Mache art technique the learners Gr 8 created their 3D sculpture. Learners rolled a paper into a tubes, joined them together and glued tubes on the base. By this technique learners created trunk of the tree. Using Kandinsky paintings learners painted Leaves. And here are the results....
After learning the basics of One Point Perspective, the grade 8 learners took on the challenge of Two Point Perspective and applied it to drawing old castles. Learners first had to understand the scientific aspect...how the eye and brain see things far away at a smaller scale and then the mathematical application of using converging lines. They were then able to apply Two Point Perspective to their artwork. They were instructed to follow the technical aspects of drawing their castle and once they had the basis, they could be as creative as they wanted. They used markers and water color to achieve the subtle muted colors. When their drawings of the castles were done, they then added some small details as if its an old map. The results look like mysterious medieval castles found on old maps.
The perspective of every artist is as different as each artist; but grade 8 learners learned that all artists start with basic one point perspective. One point perspective is technical and detailed. The vanishing point and converging lines made the art session sound more like a math session, but when all lines, windows were applied, the results were very artistic.
