Using thick black glue lines and transparent glass paints, the grade 9 learners created these mock stain glass art pieces. They learned about the traditional ways a stain glass is created and viewed many pictures of stain glass. The theme was spring and the learners set out to make their design. They glued tinfoil onto a card board, mixed black paint with white glue and put this mixture into small plastic bags and used these as a chef does and piped out their line drawings onto the tinfoil. After the lines were dried, the colors were applied. and here are the results....
Pop art and portraits... these were a fun and expressive way to approach the self portrait.Grade 9 learners studied the iconic pop artist Roy lichenstein and his bold comical approaches to art. They took photos of themselves and then using a graphite transfer procedure, they drew themselves. They then added the bold black outlines, primary colors and of course the signature dots which Roy Lichenstein was famous for using. Finally they added their think bubbles to express their thoughts.
Faces are so individual yet they all have about the same proportions. Grade 9 learners put their talents to work to draw either a self portrait or a portrait of a classmate. They first discussed the basic proportions and ratios of the face and drew a light grid to build their drawings on. Using mirrors for self portraits, or posing for each other they begen to sketch. Within no time the faces began to emerge. With a few more lines and much shading the faces soon appeared.
