Using thick black glue lines and transparent glass paints, the grade 9 learners created their own stain glass art pieces. They learned about the traditional ways a stain glass is created and viewed many pictures of stain glass. They glued tinfoil onto a card board, mixed black paint with white glue and put this mixture into the plastic bottle and used these as a chef does and piped out their line drawings onto the tinfoil. After the lines were dried, the colors were applied. and here are the results....
The grade 9 learners were invited to decorate a souvenir plate, using traditional Lebanese motives such as nature, food and household items. Learners learned how to create their composition with balance and rhythm to make their designs attractive and bold.
Students were asked to create a Lebanese souvenir. For example: the Lebanese flag, the cedar, the Phoenician ship, or a traditional dish. Firstly, they sketched their ideas and selected one. Then, they created molds by carving their designs into rectangular pieces of clay with different carving tools. The clay was left them to dry. Afterwards, the students prepared a plaster mixture by mixing limestone powder with water until it was smooth and flowing (not thick and uneven) and poured it into their lubricated molds. Once the plaster was dry, they carefully opened their clay molds to reveal their relief art. Finally, they learners polished their works and painted them.
