Drawing a cartoon character has always been a fun and interesting project; thus learners had the chance to view various characters from several decades, they became aware of the differences between past and present cartoon figures, including how they represent society at the time, fashion, drawing styles and technology. Then each one had to choose their favorite cartoon and draw it on their cardboard. Some learners drew well-known characters while others designed their own cartoon figure; they traced the outline of the character before coloring it, afterwards they traced the shadow. The outcome was stunning!
Grade 4 learners created beautiful compositions by using the mixed media collage technique, which is an artistic process of gluing and assembling various materials to a flat surface. First they started drawing and cutting shapes with diverse colored cardboards, then they glued the forms and created a landscape by applying the simple perspective, and its different levels (foreground, middle ground and background). Markers and paint have been used to embellish their creations. The outcome was remarkable!
