After learning the proportions of the human figure as well as exploring the scoring and slipping technique, which is a process of joining pieces of clay, the learners created a three dimensional clay figures. First, they made the body in a cylindrical shape, then they added the head, the arms, and all the details that made the figure look real such as the hair, the facial features, and the pattern of the clothes. Learners where very creative in sculpting, some made their figures sitting in a couch and holding a book, while others have chosen to make them lying on their back and the result was amazing!
Drawing and painting figures in motion was a very challenging project. After viewing and discussing figures drawn by famous artists, like Edgar degas, Gustave Courbet and Keith haring, as well as analyzing the use of color in their paintings, learners started sketching and drawing people by following the proportion and the different movement of the human body. Than they applied the water color technique to their drawings and the result was awesome!
