• Drawing figures in movement is one of the interesting projects done by the grade 5 learners, because they learned how a simple line and shape can help them draw a figure in action. After viewing and discussing the artist Edgar Degas' way of drawing the figures, who was especially known by his paintings of ballet dancers, the learners started drawing figures by laying down the action line, which is a line that shows the shape, force and direction of the figure’s movement. Some drew figures walking, running, others turning or jumping. Then they colored their subjects with the watercolor.

• The grade 5 learners took on the challenge of drawing many figures in different movements and placing them in a setting using simple perspective. They started by drawing the silhouettes of the figures playing, walking or jumping. In order to achieve perspective and show depth, they placed their larger figures on the bottom of the page and the smaller figures higher up on the page. To finish it off they used coloring pencils and markers to color.
