Learners made creative compositions for Christmas project, by applying the collage technique which is an artistic process of gluing and assembling various materials to a flat surface. First they started by drawing the tree shape, after that, they glued several material and fabric to their compositions, plus they focused mainly on the colors of Christmas. Shining and sparkling effects can be seen in their beautiful collage!
For the Independence Day project, learners took inspiration from our Lebanese currency, and created low /high relief coins by using clay. First, they designed and created a sculptural relief, which refers to figures projected from a flat surface, giving the impression that the sculpted material has been raised above the background. Then they painted their relief with acrylic paint, some learners applied the gold or silver color making it look like real pieces of coins, while others have chosen the colors of our beautiful flag.
Grade 6 learners created sculptures in the style of the Lebanese artist, Saloua Raouda Choucair who is a pioneer of abstract art in the Middle East, and is now being recognized as an important figure in the history of global modernism. While introducing her sculptures and abstract paintings that were characterized by a combination of the curve and the straight lines, Learners focused mainly on her interlocking shapes and started folding, cutting and joining cardboards together creating three dimensional geometrical sculptures .After exploring the line with the repetition of modules, learners applied the palette of neutral colors used by the artist, such as beige, ivory, gray and shades of white to their creations.
