Whoever claimed that Wisdom only comes with age would have been disappointed that Friday afternoon. But he would have been the only one. The rest were filled with excitement, the parents in the SMOC Auditorium ardently awaiting the beginning of KG2 end of year show, as well as those taking their time in front of their children’s artwork, displayed in the playground. When the peppy preschoolers stepped on the stage, with candles casting light on their faces, the entire auditorium seemed to light up with smiles- those of youngsters as well as adults. Not only did parents enjoy the show from beginning to end, they also got valuable gifts: our children were giving away pearls… of wisdom! They put precious life lessons into pleasing performances. Thus, the KG2 A shared with grown- ups the secret of constant cheer: “bending along with winds of change rather than being hurled away by them”. They danced to the tunes of a song celebrating the beauty of life… a life lived in tune with others! KG2 B performed a moving act about the unique beauty in each of us, which makes every person a “miracle in this world”. KG2C and KG2D showed us, in their innocent and talented way, that we can all make miracles: by sharing with others the god- given gifts which make us unique, we can turn a stone soup into a tasty dish, freezing winter into a warm spring, or even fly and touch the sky! The closing part of that afternoon’s celebration was the most touching. The little graduates paraded proudly in caps and gowns towards the stage to receive their diplomas. As they watched with tears of sorrow and satisfaction, the parents realized that the tiny steps their precious little ones were taking would lead them far, one day…away from them, along their own drumbeat of life… Rania Maghzal IEN Outreach Unit Supervisor
