Towards the Final Beat…

Posted on: 08-07-2010

School graduation is one of the most significant transitional phases in the lives of the Grade 12 learners; a turning point that could determine their future. Hence, in order to mark this turning point, the Beirut Orthodox Schools organized an outdoor farewell picnic for the Grade 12 learners, to alleviate the pressure of studies and sitting for the official exams, as well as to take them a while away from the virtual world of technology, and put them in direct contact with nature. On the 29th of June, the learners along with their teachers headed to the Picnic Land for their last gathering as a group. The learners assumed happily the task of food preparation. They fixed the salads, baked potatoes, and managed pretty well with the barbecue. Teachers and learners mingled together for fun, and eventually indulged in discussions on various topics, in particular those related to the learners’ imminent enrolment at universities. The teachers were very eager to offer guidance and provide the learners with their recommendations. Furthermore, they assured them of their support when needed. Everybody shared anecdotes, exchanged experiences, recalled happy moments of the previous scholastic years; cherished moments that they will never forget. Last minute goodbyes are always hard. Yet, the learners were full of aspirations for the promising future ahead of them. The whole group ended the picnic by taking a souvenir photo, which captured also the drumbeat of the special moments they spent together. Joumana Koudsi Interactive Education Network
