Dear Learners, As the academic year 2012-2013 commences, I’m sure that many of you are a little nervous, especially those in Preschool, new learners, and even those joining a new division. Well this is understandable; but I can assure you that these worries will soon vanish. While you were enjoying the last days of your summer vacation, all concerned persons were working really hard to make sure that your first day at school and all the days that follow, would be significant and smooth. As for me, I would like to share with you one of my favorite stories: Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his journal writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day, he was walking along the shore and as he looked on the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began walking faster to catch up. As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man and the young man wasn’t dancing, but instead was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean. As he got closer, he called out “Good morning, what are you doing?” The young man paused, looked up and replied, “Throwing starfish in the ocean. The sun is up, and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in they’ll die.” “But young man, don’t you realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it. You can’t possibly make a difference!” The young man listened politely. Then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said, “I make a difference to that one.” Today, as you proceed into a new chapter and start a different adventure, I call you to seek a profound transformation of mind and heart, to value and uphold the importance of faith and change that arise from the “heart”. Let this concept be the daily inspiration for all your work for it leaves incredible space for ideas and development. Let every change be a remarkable and extremely important one in your life. I appeal to you, my dear learners, to try to see extraordinary in the ordinary, to see beyond the defined purpose of things, and to appreciate and make use of your God gifted talents. Aim for success and never let go of your ambitions. Remember that only when you are ready to purposefully and profoundly look into your own self, reflect on your ways of thinking, your perceptions and attitudes, you will be able to be transformed by God’s truth, and thus make a difference in the world around you.
