The world is a big and exciting place full of wonderful adventures. Every country has its own uniqueness in its culture, traditions, food, language, history, and arts. Exploring the wonders of each is so much fun especially when you get to share it with your friends. This year Grade Five learners took a journey around the world in their Media Awareness Class. The learners showed great motivation when creating a touristic brochure advertising a country of their choice. The next step was presenting it in front of their classmates after learning some basic skills about public speaking. In their presentations, they talked about places to visit like museums, historical places, beaches and mountains, in addition to daytime and nighttime's recommended activities. Some of the learners wore the traditional costumes related to the country chosen and brought special decorations and souvenirs from that place. Delicious food was also served to introduce the specialty of each country cuisine. A lot of new information was shared and revealed by our learners like the Hawaiian alphabet consists of 13 letters, and the word "Aloha" means “love”; the world third largest gold reserve is located in Italy, and that the Vatican and San Marino are independent states. After her " Tour de Paris”, one learner shared her “Best of Paris” places to visit such as "Muse de Louvre”, “Le Champs –Élysées”, and "Euro Disney"; reserving a table at the first floor of the Eiffel tower and enjoying the site is a must-do if ever you're in Paris! She explained. When visiting London, don't forget to sync your watches to "Big Ben" which is a must-see according to one of the presenters. Now that you've got all important information on your hands thanks to our Grade Five learners; what left is a packed suitcase and a charged camera. Bon Voyage!!
