It is a matter of fact that whatever we learn becomes an integral part of who we are. I personally believe that enthusiasm, precision, and superb time management make learning fun and a delightful experience. (That’s an opinion!) Fourth graders explored how certain information can be factual or simply reflect an author’s personal opinion. Throughout the Snowball Relay Activity, fourth graders were given sentence strips which they crumpled into snowballs. After a surely messy and fantastic exchange of the snowballs by throwing and catching, learners were challenged to quickly read and analyze the sentence they were given and head to the designated spots labeled as FACTS or Opinion. Subsequently, each learner had to state his/her answer and provide a reasonable justification. Not only did fourth graders analyze the information with remarkable insight, but they also displayed their analysis with a great deal of excitement and impressive confidence.
