Laboratory work is important to promote learning scientific facts and encouraging inquiry and experimenting. For this reason, Grade 8 learners had a lab session during which they performed several experiments to discover the signs of chemical reactions: precipitation formation, change in temperature, gas release, change in color… They worked in groups to make some reactions using a certain procedure given by the teacher as a guideline. At the end of the session, learners were asked to fill a lab report. It was a fruitful session because learners mastered the content needed, learned how to work in groups in the lab (handling chemicals…) and enjoyed the results obtained.
