About the Library
عندما تبحث في تاريخ الأمم وحضاراتها، غالباً ما تقرأ عن فتوحات وانتصارات، عن مآسٍ وويلات، عن صروح ومنحوتات. لكنها كلها تبقى من الماضي وله.
غير أن الثقافة، العلوم، الفنون، الشعر والأدب هي الجسور التي عبرت عليها مآثر العظماء وأقوال الحكماء لتستقر في أيامنا.
ألواح حجرية، ورق بردى، مخطوطات ومنسوخات وكتب... لفّها الزمن برداء التاريخ وحفظها الأولّون بنقاب الأرض.
على رفوف المكتبات، وفي مطاوي أدراجها ودفات خزائنها تتربعّ الكتب: منتشية بعبق الكلمات، عاصية على الجهل، فخورة بحفظ الأمانة، تردّد مع الشاعر: 'هؤلاء أبنائي، فجئني بمثلهم...'
في عالم اليوم، حيث الشمولية طاغية والتكنولوجيا سائدة، تطل مكتبتنا من هذه النافذة لتأخذ لها 'موقعاّ إلكترونيا' تستطلعون من خلاله محطات يومية: ثقافية واجتماعية، شبابية وبيئية، سياسية واقتصادية، تربوية وعلمية، محليةً عربيةً وعالميةً وتتعرفون فيه على أحدث إصدارات الكتب والدوريات والمجلات وأخبار المكتبة.
