“Give It All You’ve Got” was the theme of unit 2 in which learners read about daring, determined people who pursue challenging goals and learned about the importance of being patient, courageous, and persistent. They learned that when they do something, they should always try their hardest, and if they give up, they will never know what they could have accomplished.
Moreover, grade 5 learners learned that everyone is special in his/her way. Thus, each one has a talent. That’s why they decided to perform a talent show in class:
Some of the learners who have an artistic touch created a colorful poster that advertised their show, including the acts. The girls who are good at dancing performed a delightful dance, and everybody cheered for them. Some of the learners are good at playing the musical instruments, so one of them played the guitar, and another learner played the piano. One of the girls who has a sweet, soft voice sang a very nice song that reached the bottom of our heart.
The aim behind the talent show was to teach learners that despite individual differences, each one of us has some kind of talent that we should all respect. At the same time, they are aware now that they will never fail unless they stop trying.
