Lebanon is quite famous for the majestic beauty of its nature, made evident even in the Lebanese flag, through the everlasting cedar tree. However, Lebanese forests have recently undergone deforestation because of fires and human cruelty, leaving them dry and barren. In order to cultivate and increase the green areas, our school arranged for the secondary learners a trip to the forest of Beirut on Thursday March the 4th, 2010 in order for us to realize the importance of reforestation in persevering what is left of our nature. Forming groups of three members each, we were able to plant olive trees that will add beauty and richness to our nature as they grow. This event increased our awareness, sense of responsibility and appreciation towards nature. Nature is God’s gift to man, preserving its beauty is man’s gift to himself. Aya Itani- Grade 10
