We all go through transitions in life moving from one phase to another, and the transition from Preschool Division to the Elementary Division is not always the easiest. This is why we have decided to bring KGII and Grade 1 learners together and help ease this move while introducing them to important concepts in life. The Preschool learners were divided into three groups rotating in different classes including Art, English, and Arabic. In the English classes, the “Jack and Jill” nursery rhyme was read to them. It was followed by two activities. The first was about putting the story in the correct sequence through the use of pictures. By placing the images of the story in a specific order, the learners could relate how some of life’s events occur in a certain sequence. The second was about placing bandages on Jack’s wounds using an activity sheet. Learners were able to share and discuss their feelings, which is relevant to these young minds in order to help them develop healthy relationships later on. Afterwards, they made alligators for the puppet show in the Art class and reviewed one of the letters in the Arabic class. KGII learners were introduced to the atmosphere in Grade 1 and had the opportunity to play in the playground while Grade 1 learners offered snacks. Grade 1 learners felt the importance of the event and were “mature” and responsible towards their younger friends. Jihane Matar Grade 1A
